The 42nd Annual RAMMY Awards are set to make a return on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, as announced by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) in partnership with Events DC. Nominations are now open for this prestigious event, which recognizes excellence in various categories spanning individual professional achievements to commendations for culinary concepts and service.
For the 2024 awards, any RAMW member in good standing meeting category eligibility criteria can be nominated in the Restaurant, Individual Award, and Publicly Voted categories. Finalists and winners are determined by an anonymous panel of judges, with the exception of the five publicly-voted categories, which will be decided by public vote at a later date.
A notable addition for 2024 is the opportunity for industry professionals to nominate themselves and others for the Joan Hisaoka Allied Member of the Year category, with the honoree chosen by the RAMW Executive Committee.
As always, the RAMW Executive Committee will determine the nominees and honorees for the following categories:
- Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award
- Honorary Milestone Award
- John G. Laytham Exceptional Leadership and Impact Award
Eligibility rules specify that restaurants previously named winners in the past five years are not eligible to win the same category again. However, they remain eligible for nomination in other categories, excluding the one in which they previously won. Finalists who did not win their category are eligible for nomination again in the same category.
The public and industry professionals alike can now nominate individuals and establishments for various categories, including Formal Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year, Upscale Casual Restaurant of the Year, New Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, Restaurateur of the Year, and more. Publicly Voted Categories include favorites like Best Brunch, Best Bar, and Favorite Fast Bites.
Online nominations are being accepted at www.therammys.org, and the deadline for submissions is Thursday, February 29, at 11:59 pm EST. Finalists will be unveiled at an invite-only event in April.
The RAMW Executive Committee will determine nominees and honorees for categories such as Duke Zeibert Capital Achievement Award, Honorary Milestone Award, and John G. Laytham Exceptional Leadership and Impact Award.
