On the upcoming ninth season of the hit series “Bar Rescue,” premiering Sunday, February 25th at 10 pm on the Paramount Network, Jon Taffer, renowned industry consultant specializing in revitalizing failing bars and pubs, will be joined by a team of seasoned restaurant experts. Among them is local chef Ashish Alfred, whose culinary prowess blends classical training from the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan with his Indian-American heritage.
Chef Alfred, a Montgomery County native hailing from Derwood and an alumnus of Magruder High School, has made a name for himself with his establishments Duck Duck Goose, Anchor Bar, Good Ducking Burger, and Osteria Pirata. His unique blend of culinary influences promises to bring a fresh perspective to the bar rescue efforts.
Throughout the season, viewers will be taken on a journey across various cities, including those in Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Texas, Wisconsin, and more, as the team endeavors to bring about transformative change to struggling bars. However, the road to improvement is not without its challenges, as episodes are anticipated to feature tense confrontations between Jon Taffer and the bar owners. Nevertheless, these conflicts are expected to lead to meaningful resolutions and ultimately, positive transformations for the establishments involved.
Notably, the show’s past featured a memorable episode centered around Piratz Tavern, a pirate-themed dive bar in Silver Spring. The closure of Piratz Tavern in 2015 marked the end of an era, but the lessons learned from its experience continue to resonate within the industry.
In 2022, Taffer’s Tavern, opened at 700 6th St NW in DC, next to the Capital One Arena.
