Playa Bowls has added another vibrant spot to its roster with the launch of its fifth Montgomery County location at 8525 Chevy Chase Lake Terrace within the Chevy Chase Lake development. Currently in its soft opening phase, Playa Bowls Chevy Chase welcomes patrons from 8 am to 8 pm, starting Sunday, February 25th through Friday, March 1st, and from 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday, March 2nd.
Nestled adjacent to Connecticut Avenue and the upcoming Purple Line transit system, Playa Bowls enjoys a prime location within the Chevy Chase Lake development—a hub designed for walkability and a mix of commercial and residential spaces, complete with a town center and access to the Capital Crescent Trail.
Founded by surf enthusiasts Abby Taylor and Rob Giuliani, Playa Bowls originated from their quest to replicate the delectable, health-conscious açaí and pitaya bowls discovered during their surf escapades across the globe. The Chevy Chase Lake locale, spanning 1,748 square feet, is set to commence full operations in fall 2022. Boasting a menu featuring Açaí Bowls, Pitaya, Coconut Bowls, smoothies, and more, Playa Bowls made its inaugural splash nearly seven years ago along the Jersey Shore and has since flourished, now boasting nearly 100 locations.
The brand has been steadily expanding its presence in the DC area, with multiple openings in recent years. In Montgomery County alone, Playa Bowls has established itself in Potomac, MD (Cabin John Village), Kensington (Knowles Station), Olney (Fair Hill), and most recently in Gaithersburg (operating as Playa Bowls Darnestown). With its nutritious and flavorful offerings, Playa Bowls continues to captivate local palates, offering a taste of tropical bliss amidst the hustle and bustle of city life.
