Bao Bei Returns: Reopening After TV Food Competition Appearance

Bao Bei, located at 11910 Parklawn Dr #O in Rockville, is set to reopen its doors on Wednesday, March 6. The restaurant had temporarily closed its operations on January 17 to participate in a reality TV food competition.

Owned and operated by Gaithersburg native Kevin Hsieh, Bao Bei operates as a “ghost kitchen” and offers a menu featuring Baos, Rice bowls, and various side dishes. Among its specialties is the Pork Belly Bao, which features slow-braised pork belly nestled inside fluffy handmade buns. The restaurant primarily caters to pickup and delivery orders.

Before its hiatus, Bao Bei shared a message on its Instagram page, informing its loyal patrons about the temporary closure due to its participation in a food competition. The closure duration was initially uncertain, depending on the competition’s duration, with a potential reopening date around February 28.

Bao Bei expressed gratitude for its customers’ support and promised to return stronger than ever after the competition. Despite the temporary closure, the restaurant encouraged patrons to indulge in its offerings before the hiatus and wished them luck for the upcoming competition.
