Signage has been installed for Charleys Cheesesteaks & Wings at 9721 Frederick Rd., the former site of a standalone Verizon store, located in the Fox Chapel shopping center.
This new location marks the chain’s third establishment in Germantown. Last year, Charleys opened branches at 19877 Century Blvd. and 20910 Frederick Rd. inside Walmart.
Charleys also operates additional locations in Aspen Hill, Bethesda (Montgomery Mall), Clarksburg (outlets), Gaithersburg, and Wheaton (Wheaton Mall).
We will share updates as soon as the opening date is announced.
Charleys is a franchise specializing in Philly cheesesteaks. The first Charleys opened in 1986 across from Ohio State University. While studying real estate at Ohio State, Charley Shin worked at his mother’s Japanese/Korean restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. A wrong turn during a family trip to New York City led Charley to discover the Philly cheesesteak. Inspired, Charley persuaded his mother to sell her restaurant and invest her life savings of $48,000 into opening Charleys, a 450-square-foot eatery near the Ohio State campus.
