Red Hound Pizza has officially opened its doors at 7050 Carroll Ave in Takoma Park. The new pizzeria offers square pizzas inspired by both Roman and Sicilian styles, using locally-sourced ingredients, including freshly-milled flour from local and regenerative sources.
Owned by Andrea Alvarez and Charbel Abrache, the former head pastry chef at DC favorite Seylou Bakery, Red Hound Pizza brings a wealth of culinary expertise to the table. At Seylou, Abrache led the pastry team to develop recipes using whole grain flours and alternative grains, and he also created its popular pizza program.
Red Hound Pizza’s menu features a seasonal, rotating variety of pizza toppings, focaccia sandwiches (available starting next week), and salads. They also offer a selection of desserts, including soft serve ice cream. To encourage sampling, pizza is available by the slice, in addition to whole pizzas. Customers can enjoy their meals in the rear outdoor dining area or opt for takeout. Beer and wine will be available soon.
