Hey Tea, a global tea chain founded in 2012 by 19-year-old entrepreneur Neo Nie in Guangdong, China, is set to open its first Maryland location at 891-F Rockville Pike in Wintergreen Plaza.
According to H&R Retail, the new Hey Tea shop will be situated between Wingstop and Paisano’s, occupying the space currently held by Sweetfrog. With a call to Sweetfrog going unanswered and their voicemail box full, the exact timeline for Hey Tea’s opening remains uncertain.
Hey Tea made its U.S. debut last summer with a store on Broadway in New York City, followed by a second location in Flushing, NY, and additional outlets in New York. Earlier this summer, the brand expanded to the West Coast, opening its first California store in Beverly Hills, where it drew crowds and long lines.
According to a Hey Tea press release, the Maryland location will feature three core product categories: Refreshing Real Fruit Teas, Real Dairy Milk Teas, and Refreshing Finest Teas. Some of the offerings, such as Very Grape Cheese (Original), Very Grape HEYTEA (Original), Mango Grapefruit Sago, Roasted Brown Bobo Milk (Original), and Regal Aqua Green Jasmine Cheese (Original), are designed to deliver the authentic HEYTEA experience. Prices for these beverages range from $3.99 to $7.49 (excluding additional toppings), with an average pre-tax price of $6.33.
