Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza has permanently closed its doors after nearly five years of operation at 7776 Norfolk Ave in Bethesda.

The restaurant’s website now lists this location as permanently closed. Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza first opened in January 2020, taking over the space previously occupied by Community.

Founded in Florida in 2002, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza has grown to over 50 locations throughout the northeastern United States. Initially owned by Anthony Bruno and backed by NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, the chain was acquired by BurgerFi International in 2021. Despite BurgerFi currently facing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, no other Anthony’s locations have been reported closed so far. The brand is recognized for its “premium pizza and wings,” known for fresh ingredients and a unique 900-degree coal-fired oven.
