Maryland’s First Ukrainian Restaurant Opens Its Doors

In May, we shared the exciting news that Ruta Ukrainian Restaurant would be opening at 4862 Cordell Ave in Bethesda, taking over the space formerly occupied by Momo Chicken. The restaurant officially opened its doors last month, and the MoCoShow’s Mr. MoCo recently visited to show his support (check out the video here).

As you walk in, you’ll notice signs proudly announcing that Ruta is Maryland’s first Ukrainian restaurant. It’s also notable for being the first Ukrainian restaurant in Washington, D.C., with its inaugural location at 327 7th St SE. The menu features a range of traditional Ukrainian dishes, including Varenyky (dumplings), Chicken Kyiv, Meat Holubtsi (meat-stuffed cabbage with sour cream), and more.
