After a temporary closure of the Woodley Gardens shopping center in Rockville that lasted over a week, Carmen’s Italian Ice announced via social media that the plumbing repair work has passed inspection. Carmen’s will be reopening at 2 p.m. today, while Z&Z Manoushe Bakery will reopen tomorrow (Thursday). We have not yet received updates from Hard Times or Shanghai Taste regarding their reopening dates, but we expect they may reopen Thursday or Friday. The parking lot remains “a mess,” according to business owners.
On Wednesday afternoon, Carmen’s posted, “Looks like the plumbing issues in Rockville are fixed & water will be back on by noon today! (Parking lot is still a mess but that should be fixed in next few days) OPEN, OPEN, OPEN in Rockville today, 2-9pm. Thanks for all the support while all the restaurants in Woodley dealt with this issue. Please grab some lunch or dinner from our friends @zandzdc @hardtimesrockville & Shanghai Taste when they open (hopefully they can get all be ready to open in next day or too as well).”
Z&Z Manoushe Bakery shared, “Officially back open after a brief hiatus. Join us starting tmw (Thursday, 11/7) for some good ol’ manoushe, beverages, and other goodies. Our dough is currently getting some slow cold fermented rest for deep flavor and the special fluffy yet crispy crust. See you soon.”
As of 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the Hard Times answering machine may provide an update soon, but no update had been received. A call to Shanghai Taste went unanswered.
