Charley’s Cheesesteaks is coming soon to Aspen Hill

Charley’s Cheesesteaks is making its way to the Aspen Hill shopping center, occupying the vacant space next to FloorMax (adjacent to Wing Stop). Ongoing construction is in progress, and although an opening date is yet to be announced, this development marks the arrival of Charley’s Cheesesteaks, not to be confused with Charley’s Steakhouse as previously reported during the early construction phase. Charley’s Cheesesteaks is a popular chain with over 600 stores nationwide.

The newer locations of Charley’s Cheesesteaks have embraced an expanded menu concept, offering not only their signature Philly cheesesteaks but also chicken wings and ice cream. The tossed-to-order wings feature 10 chef-inspired flavors, ranging from bold options like Angry Ghost and Nashville Hot to milder choices such as Zesty Lemon-Lime Rub and Sweet Teriyaki.

The origins of Charley’s date back to 1986 when Charley Shin opened the first location across the campus of Ohio State University. Charley, studying real estate at the time, had previously worked in his mother’s Japanese/Korean restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. A chance discovery of the Philly cheesesteak during a family trip to New York City led Charley to convince his mother to sell her restaurant and invest her life savings of $48,000 into Charley’s—a 450-square-foot establishment located across the street from Ohio State’s campus.
