Coming Soon: Z-Burger/Maman


Last week, it was announced that Maman Joon and Z-Burger will be occupying the space formerly housing Taco Bar and Jerry’s Subs & Pizza at 18100 Georgia Avenue in Olney. Maman Joon specializes in Persian cuisine and has recently opened a location in Tyson’s Corner. Meanwhile, Z-Burger, a local DMV-based chain, is renowned as a “Washington DC landmark,” offering handcrafted burgers with various toppings, fresh-cut fries, and an extensive selection of hand-spun milkshakes and concretes made with premium Wisconsin custard. The opening date is yet to be announced.


Coming Soon: Ramen Ya

Located at 16822 Georgia Ave. The establishment, specializing in Japanese noodles and dumplings, is set to occupy the former space of Loyal Companion, situated in the same shopping center as Roots Market and Sisters Sandwiches & Such. Ramen Ya stands out for importing its noodle flour directly from Japan and employing a top-of-the-line noodle machine to craft fresh noodles daily. In addition to the upcoming Olney location, Ramen Ya already operates at 7938 Crain Hwy S in Glen Burnie, MD.

As stated on its website, the company boasts over a decade of experience in the food industry. Having begun by distributing premium seafood ingredients to restaurants and opening sushi stations in upscale supermarkets, Ramen Ya now seeks to provide its own spaces to offer guests the finest authentic Japanese ramen. Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

Coming Soon: Mackie’s Barbecue Company

To 5500 Olney Laytonsville Rd, filling the space formerly held by Umberto’s Italian Restaurant. Mackie’s, known for its existing locations at 8547 Ziggy Lane in Gaithersburg and 325 West 7th Street in Frederick, MD, offers a menu featuring BBQ nachos, crab dip, pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken, ribs, mac & cheese, and Texas beans.
