First Watch has committed to establishing a new presence in the upcoming development of White Oak Town Center at 12345 Columbia Pike. Set to occupy a corner space, it will be positioned opposite the yet-to-be-determined grocery store anchor.
BizJournals initially reported the inclusion of First Watch, a popular breakfast/brunch spot, in the evolving lineup of establishments within the development. This addition follows the recent signings of Dave’s Hot Chicken, European Wax Center, Jersey Mike’s, Inspire Nail Bar, Starbucks, and Oak Barrel & Vine.
This particular First Watch venue is anticipated to offer alcoholic beverages, aligning with the trend observed in the two existing Montgomery County locations, where such options are in the process of being incorporated into their menus. First Watch initially entered Montgomery County with the opening of its Rockville Town Square location in 2007. Seven years later, in 2014, a second Montgomery County establishment was inaugurated at 802 Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg’s Muddy Branch Square, taking over the space previously occupied by the long-standing Finger & Claws.
The name “First Watch” holds a maritime significance, referring to the initial work shift aboard a ship, and reflects the restaurant’s operating hours from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Founded in Pacific Grove, California, in 1983 by Ken Pendery and John Sullivan, the chain has since expanded to encompass over 500 locations across 29 states.
