Coming Soon to Silver Spring is Roaming Rooster

Roaming Rooster, a local restaurant chain boasting 11 establishments across the DC Metro area, is set to open its third restaurant in Montgomery County at 8537 Georgia Ave., taking over the space previously occupied by Flip’d by IHOP.

Flip’d by IHOP ceased operations on June 1st, 2023, closing its doors in September 2022 after IHOP’s decision to shutter all Flip’d locations. Roaming Rooster already has a presence in Montgomery County with locations in Pike & Rose and Gaithersburg. The restaurant is known for its array of fried chicken offerings, including sandwiches, tenders, wings, and more. You can explore the full menu here.

According to Roaming Rooster’s website, the concept was born in early 2015 in Washington, D.C., founded by a family with a distinctive vision. The idea was to create a food truck offering fried chicken that was not only delicious but also sourced ethically—featuring free-range, grain-fed, and antibiotic-free chicken served fresh daily. The initial success of the food truck led to rapid expansion, growing from one truck to three and eventually expanding into numerous brick-and-mortar locations.

The popularity of Roaming Rooster soared, driven by the recognition that where your food comes from matters. The restaurant received widespread acclaim for its commitment to serving tasty free-range chicken. Within a year, the demand for Roaming Rooster expanded beyond the initial food truck, with requests pouring in for catering, private events, and scheduled food truck visits from D.C. and the surrounding areas of Maryland and Virginia. The growth of Roaming Rooster is attributed to its dedication to the principle that the origin of your food matters, a commitment evident in every meal served.
