J. Chow’s in Montgomery Mall Goes Dark

Closure Update: J. Chow’s, known as the “California Chicken Salad Place,” located inside the Montgomery Mall dining terrace, has closed its doors.

J. Chow’s was a longstanding lunch spot in Montgomery County and had previously been located at the now-demolished White Flint Mall in Rockville. The menu featured a variety of items such as salads, soups, sandwiches, vegetarian platters, baked potatoes, BBQ chicken, and ribs. The closure of J. Chow’s was originally reported by Store Reporter.

In other food court news, Donutchew has recently opened in the kiosk previously occupied by Vino Rita. The donut shop plans to move soon to its permanent location in the spot recently vacated by Adonni’s Desserts, located next to Macy’s and across from 7-Eleven. Donutchew offers a diverse range of mochi donut flavors, sweet and savory croffles (croissant and waffle mix), macarons, bubble tea, and more.

Additionally, Pollo Campero is scheduled to open soon, taking over the space most recently occupied by Greek Aroma Grill. The menu will include fried and grilled chicken, empanadas, yuca, plantains, and flan. Pollo Campero already has additional Montgomery County locations in Gaithersburg, Takoma Park, and Wheaton. Originating in Guatemala, the fried chicken chain opened its first location in 1971 and has since expanded to over 400 locations worldwide, including over 70 in the United States.
