Gardenia’s Cafe Temporarily Closed for Planned Break and Vacation Until January 12

Temporary Closure Announcement for Gardenia’s Cafe: Gardenia’s Cafe, situated at 8377 Snouffer School Rd. in Gaithersburg, will be temporarily closed from January 2nd to January 12th. The planned break is part of a family hiatus for the owners and operators of the restaurant.

Owned by the Ortega family—Fernando, Maritza, Gardenia, and Joshua—the cafe has been a welcoming space since its opening in early 2020. Gardenia describes the atmosphere as akin to walking into her own house, with bright colors, cleanliness, flowers, the aroma of fresh food, and quality ingredients. The menu features homemade, multicultural cuisine, emphasizing clean ingredients.

Despite opening just a month before the pandemic, Gardenia’s Cafe has become known for its diverse offerings, including all-day breakfast, a rotating selection of cakes, pies, muffins, and various dishes for lunch and dinner. The menu includes burgers, cheesesteaks, seafood, pastas, salads, and pastelles, showcasing the family’s Salvadoran heritage. Vegan and gluten-free options are also available.

Fernando Ortega, who previously worked as a sous chef at Columbia Country Club, took a leap of faith by leaving his job of 30 years to pursue the family’s dream of spreading love and happiness through food. The cafe is a testament to their dedication, and Joshua Ortega, the head chef, crafts a menu influenced by his father’s expertise and Gardenia’s baking.

Gardenia’s Cafe is not just a place to savor delicious food but also to experience the warmth and love emanating from the Ortega family. During the temporary closure, the family invites patrons to look forward to their return, continuing to share their passion for good food and hospitality.

Le Macaron Adds a Touch of French Elegance to Gaithersburg: Le Macaron, located at 7 Grand Corner Ave, next to BurgerFi in Gaithersburg’s Rio, is set to open its doors at 10 am on Monday, December 18th. Owned by MoCo residents Natalia Mejia and Camilo Beltran, the shop will initially be in a “soft opening” phase until the grand opening in January.

The establishment offers a sophisticated French pastry experience, featuring an array of delectable macarons available in over 20 flavors. In addition to macarons, Le Macaron presents a diverse menu that includes gourmet chocolates, French gelato, specialty European-style coffees, classic French pastries, and homemade candies.

Founded by Rosalie Guillem and her daughter Audrey Guillem-Saba, Le Macaron began its journey in 2009 with the aim of sharing authentic French macarons with the world. The family, originally from France, sought to introduce true French flavors to the American palate. The signature macarons are crafted by a team of French chefs, offering a gluten-free delight with no preservatives and approximately 80 calories each.

Beyond macarons, Le Macaron’s menu encompasses a selection of gourmet chocolates, French gelato, classic French pastries, European-style beverages, and homemade candies. The modern European design of their French pâtisseries emphasizes refined operations with minimal on-site baking, allowing franchisees to focus on exceptional customer service.

Le Macaron’s introduction to Gaithersburg brings a taste of France to the community, providing a delightful destination for those seeking high-quality, authentic French pastries and treats.
