Bao Bei, located at 11910 Parklawn Dr #O in Rockville, has announced its temporary closure starting on January 17th to participate in a reality TV food competition. The closure is expected to last until the competition concludes, potentially extending until February 28.
The restaurant shared the news via Instagram, expressing excitement about the opportunity and assuring customers that they will return better than ever. The Instagram post stated, “Bao Bei fam, we have been invited to participate in a food competition (cannot disclose details yet) and will be closed from January 17th – TBD. It hurts having to leave for even a little bit of time, but we’re excited and will come back better than ever! Wish us luck, and we will see you soon. WE WILL STILL BE OPEN THIS UPCOMING WEEK SO COME EAT BAOS WHILE YOU CAN!”
Bao Bei, a “ghost kitchen,” is owned and operated by Gaithersburg native Kevin Hsieh. The menu features Baos, Rice bowls, and side dishes, with the Pork Belly Bao, consisting of slow-braised pork belly inside fluffy handmade buns, being a signature item. The restaurant recently gained recognition by being featured in the Washington Post’s ’10 Best DC-Area Casual Restaurants of 2023′ list. The temporary closure reflects the exciting opportunities and achievements for Bao Bei in the culinary world.
