Charleys Cheesesteaks & Wings is set to open its eighth location in Montgomery County, marking its third establishment in Germantown. The new location will be situated in the Fox Chapel shopping center, taking over the space previously occupied by the standalone Verizon store at 19721 Frederick Rd.
This expansion follows Charley’s recent openings in Germantown at 19877 Century Blvd and inside Walmart at 20910 Frederick Rd, where it assumed the space formerly held by McDonald’s. The Fox Chapel location is anticipated to offer not only cheesesteaks but also wings and milkshakes, aligning with the trend seen in most new Charleys locations in the area.
Charleys Cheesesteaks & Wings is known as a Philly cheesesteak franchise with origins dating back to its first establishment near Ohio State University in 1986. Charley Shin, the founder, discovered the Philly cheesesteak during a family trip to New York City and persuaded his mother to invest her life savings of $48,000 into Charley’s. The franchise now has a presence in Aspen Hill, Bethesda (Montgomery Mall), Clarksburg (outlets), Gaithersburg, and Wheaton (Wheaton Mall).
