Earlier today, it was reported that Maman Joon would be occupying the former Taco Bar and Jerry’s Subs & Pizza space at 18100 Georgia Avenue in Olney. Subsequent information, obtained from additional signage installed at the restaurant, reveals that Maman Joon’s sister restaurant, Z-Burger, will also be part of the establishment.
Z-Burger, a local DMV-based chain, touts itself as a “Washington DC landmark,” known for crafting the area’s most delicious handcrafted burgers with a myriad of toppings, fresh-cut fries, and an extensive selection of 75 hand-spun milkshakes and concretes made with premium Wisconsin custard. With multiple locations in DC, Northern Virginia, and three in Maryland, Z-Burger has become a well-established presence in the region since its inaugural Tenleytown location in 2008. Earlier this year, the chain announced its first Montgomery County location.
Founder Peter Tabibian, who previously served as the general manager at a Jerry’s Subs & Pizza in Maryland, launched Z-Burger in 2008. He is also the driving force behind Maman Joon, the Persian restaurant joining forces with Z-Burger in the Olney space. While an opening timeframe for Z-Burger/Maman Joon is yet to be disclosed, the addition of these two culinary offerings is set to bring a diverse range of flavors to the Olney community.
