Chipotle, having opened a new digital-only restaurant earlier at 13801 Outlet Drive in Silver Spring, is now in the construction phase for what appears to be a second version of this concept in Montgomery County.
The forthcoming location, known as “Chipotlane,” is part of the brand’s innovative approach where there is no traditional dining room, and orders are exclusively placed through the Chipotle app. Originally slated for the Rock Creek Village Center in Rockville, the new restaurant seems to be taking shape in the space formerly occupied by Sun Trust Bank. While the rendering suggests the presence of dining tables, particularly outside, there may have been changes in the initial plans, and further clarification is being sought.
In line with the digital kitchen concept, Chipotle states that “guests and delivery drivers can collect their digital orders through the Chipotlane drive-thru or walk-up window.” The new establishment is expected to join The Creek Lodge Bar, Villa Maya, and other establishments in the shopping center, offering a streamlined and technology-driven dining experience. Although the opening is anticipated later this year, a specific timeframe is not yet available.
