Cubano’s, a beloved restaurant that has been serving Cuban cuisine for over two decades, has permanently closed its original location at 1201 Fidler Lane in Silver Spring, according to a report by Source of the Spring.

The restaurant first opened in Silver Spring in 2001 and expanded to Bethesda in 2020, taking over the space previously occupied by Louisiana Kitchen at 4907 Cordell Ave. While the Bethesda location remains open, the Silver Spring restaurant, which closed earlier this year, was initially marked as a temporary closure on Google. A sign on the door indicated that the restaurant would be closed for remodeling until July. However, Source of the Spring reported that “the former Silver Spring location’s Instagram profile confirmed its closure via direct message.” The Instagram profile now states, “CLOSED! WE ARE NOW IN BETHESDA!”

Cubano’s no longer lists the Silver Spring location on its website. The Bethesda location, which opened just before the Covid shutdowns, currently operates Sunday-Thursday from 12:00pm-9pm and Friday/Saturday from 12:00pm-10pm.
