Dawson’s Market, which announced last month that it would be permanently closing its location at 225 N. Washington St. in Rockville Town Square at the end of June, has revealed a new partnership with the Universities at Shady Grove. Dawson’s will provide catering services and manage the campus’s cafeteria and coffee bar starting this summer. Full press release below:
“Dawson’s Market, a community-focused natural foods grocer, and The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) are thrilled to announce a new partnership. Starting this summer, Dawson’s Market will provide catering services and manage the cafeteria and coffee bar operations on campus, offering students, faculty, and staff a wide variety of healthy, delicious, and sustainably sourced dining options.
“We are excited to bring our passion for quality food and community engagement to USG,” said Bart Yablonsky, owner of Dawson’s Market. “This partnership allows us to expand our reach and
support the well-being of the USG community by offering fresh, locally-sourced meals and snacks that align with our commitment to sustainability and health.”
The cafeteria and coffee bar will feature an array of menu options, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices, ensuring there is something to suit everyone’s dietary needs and preferences. Dawson’s Market is dedicated to providing meals made from organic and non-GMO ingredients, sourced from local farmers and producers whenever possible. This commitment not only ensures the highest quality food, but also supports the local economy and reduces environmental impact.
In addition to daily cafeteria services, Dawson’s Market will also cater special events and meetings on campus. Their catering menu will include a variety of options, from boxed lunches to elaborate buffets — all crafted with the same dedication to quality and sustainability.
“USG’s exciting partnership with Dawson’s Market is not only about delicious, healthy, locally sourced and diverse food options for students, faculty, staff, friends and visitors of USG, it is
also about shared values among our two organizations — a commitment as anchor institutions in Montgomery County to support healthy, sustainable and affordable food options. This partnership provides an opportunity to collaborate with local businesses and organizations to keep talent and wealth in our community and to strengthen it,” said Dr. Anne Khademian, Executive Director of The Universities at Shady Grove.
To celebrate the launch of this partnership, Dawson’s Market and USG will host a grand opening event at the beginning of the fall semester. The event will feature free samples, special
promotions, and the opportunity to meet with the Dawson’s Market team. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend and experience firsthand the exciting new dining options
available on campus.
