DMV’s First Torchy’s Tacos Adds Exterior Signage as Opening Nears

Torchy’s Tacos has installed permanent signage at its first DMV area location, set to open at 12266 Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza.

Last September, The MoCoShow announced that Texas-based Torchy’s Tacos would be opening at this address, taking over part of the space previously occupied by Chuy’s and Ruby Tuesday. The restaurant successfully cleared a major hurdle with its alcohol license hearing on February 1st.

In March, a $500,000 permit was obtained for construction, and work on the interior is ongoing. With the exterior signage now in place, the restaurant has confirmed that it is on schedule to open this fall.

Torchy’s Tacos is known for its unique tacos, popular queso, and refreshing margaritas, along with a rotating Taco of the Month. With over 115 locations across 14 states, Torchy’s Tacos offers made-to-order tacos, sides, and drinks from scratch.

“We welcome Torchy’s Tacos and Kura Revolving Sushi Bar as they expand into Maryland,” said Ralph Ours, Director of Leasing, Mid-Atlantic Region at Federal. “These two new, innovative dining additions further cement Federal Plaza as a popular shopping and dining destination for the Rockville and greater Montgomery County community.”
