Galito’s Flame-Grilled Chicken made its debut in the location formerly occupied by Nirvana Reflexology Spa at 15918 Shady Grove Road in the Shady Grove Center, adjacent to The Melting Pot, in the spring of 2022. However, less than two years later, the restaurant has ceased operations.
Although Google lists the restaurant as “temporarily closed,” the windows have now been covered with paper, and signage indicating its replacement has already been erected. Galito’s was known for its chicken infused with “bold African flavors” and drew comparisons to the international fast-casual chain, Nando’s Peri Peri. Originating in South Africa, Galito’s boasts a presence in over 16 countries, spanning from Africa to Malaysia, Pakistan, the UAE, India, and Canada. The Gaithersburg establishment marked the South African chain’s inaugural venture into the United States market.
Presently, signage for “Shawarma Mediterranean Crave” has taken the place of Galito’s. While details about this new establishment remain scarce, the name suggests a focus on Mediterranean cuisine. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
