Yelp, the popular crowd-sourced review website, has released its “Top 100 Sushi Spots 2024” list, and MoCo’s own 168 Asian Burrito has made the cut at #57. Located at 18000 Georgia Avenue within the Exxon convenience store in Olney, 168 Asian Burrito stands out with a unique twist.
Despite its inclusion on the sushi list, 168 Asian Burrito doesn’t offer traditional sushi. Instead, the menu features “Asian burritos and rice bowls” along with Baos and a variety of sides. The burritos and bowls incorporate ingredients commonly found in sushi rolls.
168 Asian Burrito has been serving the community for nearly five years. Owner Peter Chen (pictured above) seized the opportunity to open at the Olney Exxon location when it became available. With over 25 years of experience in the culinary field, Chen previously worked at several restaurants in the county and even operated his own spot near the Montgomery Mall food court, though he faced challenges with high rent.
“I like Olney. The people are so nice and very friendly,” Chen shared. “Every day is a good day because of the people.” The positive sentiment is mutual, as 168 Asian Burrito boasts a 4.8-star rating on Yelp with over 190 reviews. The complete Yelp list can be found here.
