Local Plant-Based Restaurant Earns Spot on Washingtonian Magazine’s ‘Best Restaurant in Maryland’ List

In the recently published “Readers’ Favorite Restaurants” article by Washingtonian Magazine, the plant-based restaurant Planta, situated in Montgomery County, secured the third position in the ‘Best Restaurant in Maryland’ category. Taking the top spot in this category was Rockville’s Bob’s Shanghai 66.

Planta, an upscale plant-based eatery with a menu curated by Chef David Lee, made its debut at 4910 Elm St in Bethesda Row in early 2022. Described as a chic vegan restaurant, it offers unique dishes such as watermelon “sushi” and carbonara with mushroom bacon, as highlighted by Washingtonian.

Founded in 2016, Planta has expanded its presence with several locations in Florida, New York, and Toronto. Noteworthy is Planta’s appeal to a diverse clientele, including non-plant-based celebrities like Rob Gronkowski, Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber, and more. The restaurant emphasizes its inclusivity, asserting that it was created for everyone.
