Lock 72 Kitchen and Bar Has Closed Permanently

Lock 72, situated at 10128 River Rd in Potomac’s Potomac Village shopping center, has permanently closed its doors after seven years. The restaurant underwent a name change from The Tavern at River Falls to Lock 72, Kitchen & Bar in 2016 when it was acquired by the Robert Wiedmaier group. Unfortunately, it is no longer listed on the RW Restaurant Group website, the phone number is inactive, and its social media accounts have been deactivated. The restaurant’s closure is further affirmed by its Google listing indicating permanent closure. A scheduled auction of its contents has been postponed. The restaurant’s name, Lock 72, was inspired by the locks on the C&O Canal, used historically to assist barges along the canal from Georgetown in DC to Cumberland, Maryland.
