Los Chorros Restaurant, a cherished establishment in the Wheaton area, is marking a significant milestone this month as it celebrates its 35th anniversary. Since its inception in February 1989, Los Chorros has been a culinary mainstay, serving up authentic Mexican and Salvadorian cuisine to the local community.
Founded by Pedro and Reina Lazo, who brought with them over a decade of experience in the food industry, Los Chorros emerged from a desire to create a cozy, family-run eatery that would cater to the Wheaton, Maryland area. Their aim was to offer patrons not just delicious food, but also a genuine sense of home and hospitality. Today, the restaurant continues to embody these principles under the stewardship of their sons, Omar and Jason Lazo.
From its modest beginnings as a 75-person carry-out spot, Los Chorros underwent a significant transformation in the winter of 1995. Expanding into the adjacent space, the restaurant underwent a thorough three-month renovation, emerging as a larger dining destination with seating for 175 guests and a fully stocked bar. Over the years, Los Chorros has earned praise from various sources, including The Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, AOL City Guide, and The Gazette.
Despite its growth and accolades, Los Chorros remains dedicated to its founding ethos of providing a welcoming environment, top-notch service, and flavorful dishes at reasonable prices. Guests are encouraged to experience the warmth and authenticity of the Lazo Family’s hospitality firsthand while exploring the diverse menu offerings that have made Los Chorros a beloved fixture in the Wheaton/Silver Spring community.
“We continue provide an at home feel, excellent service, reasonable prices, with a very family friendly atmosphere. Please feel free to come in and say hola to the Lazo Family.” The full menu can be seen here.
