Mackie’s Barbecue Co. is marking the six-month milestone of its Olney establishment at 5500 Olney Laytonsville Rd on March 25, while simultaneously revealing plans for a new venue in Clarksburg slated to open later this year.
Set to occupy the current space of the Clarksburg Market at 23329 Frederick Rd, the forthcoming restaurant is currently undergoing construction. Mackie’s intends to kickstart operations with a food truck onsite this summer, with the full-fledged restaurant anticipated to launch in early 2025.
Since its debut in September, Mackie’s Olney branch has introduced an array of exclusive dine-in menu items, including a tantalizing rib sandwich, BBQ nachos, and Amarillo fries. These additions were crafted by owner Cam Makki, who gleaned inspiration from input gathered from local MoCo “foodie” communities on Facebook and the eatery’s loyal patrons.
Moreover, Mackie’s Olney is in the process of erecting an outdoor patio, featuring a complete outdoor bar, extra seating, mobile smokers, and a cluster of 12-15 fire pits to enhance customer experiences year-round. Plans are also underway to incorporate pickleball courts into the establishment’s amenities.
Beyond Olney, Mackie’s operates commercial/ghost kitchen venues in Gaithersburg and Potomac, focusing primarily on catering services, alongside pickup and delivery facilitated through DoorDash and UberEATS. Additionally, the company maintains another location at 325 West 7th Street in Frederick, MD.
