Eater DC has published its list of “The 18 Best Coffee Shops Around D.C.,” highlighting top spots across the region. Among the many great coffee shops featured, only one in Maryland made the cut: Takoma Beverage Company (Takoma Bev Co.), located at 6917 Laurel Ave. in Takoma Park, Montgomery County.
Eater DC writes, “The all-day coffee shop and bar from two Northside Socialalums brought pour-overs, rotating art exhibits, and mixed drinks to downtown Takoma Park in 2017. The popular cafe has since doubled its seat count by growing into the space next door. A custom espresso machine built for the restaurant is fed a strict diet of Counter Culture Coffee, and a front counter with a white quartz top features a display case stocked with pastries and other impulse buys. Open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (and 10 p.m. on weekends) with cocktails, beer, and wine, too.”
Per Takoma Bev Co: The collaboration of two cousins, Takoma Beverage Company has been a dream of Chris Brown’s and Seth Cook’s for many years. After working together in a busy specialty café, Chris and Seth became intoxicated with the world of beverages, the stories they contain within and the social world they promote. Noticing that people who enjoy specialty coffee also desire the same level of craft in their beer or cocktail, the cousins wanted to create a place where people could come to hang out with their friends and their beverages, and continue the everlasting tradition of coming together that only a drink can initiate.
