McDonald’s on Rockville Pike Shuts Down

The McDonald’s restaurant at 11564 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda has officially closed, with signage removed this past Thursday morning. The location, which served the area for years, will be replaced by a new McDonald’s set to open at 11710 Rockville Pike, previously the site of an Arby’s.

This new McDonald’s will feature a drive-thru, a significant update from the previous location, which did not offer that convenience. Construction photos of the new site are circulating online, showing progress as the new restaurant takes shape. While Arby’s closed its doors at this site in May 2021, the new McDonald’s is expected to bring an updated, modern experience to the area.

In June 2021 Washington Business Journal (WBJ) reported that Shake Shack would be moving into the 11710 Rockville Pike space, but the deep negotiations fell through and the space had remained vacant for  more than three years. While there’s no set opening date for the new McDonald’s, it’s expected to open sometime in the first half of 2025. Stay tuned for more details.
