Last summer, we shared the news that Andy’s Pizza, the 2021 winner of the International Pizza Challenge™, was set to establish a presence in Montgomery County, specifically at 4600 East West Highway—the former location of the Booeymonger sandwich shop in Bethesda. Excitingly, the restaurant is now open, as reported by several readers and confirmed on Andy’s website. Operating hours are from 10:30 am to 10 pm Monday through Thursday, 10:30 am to 12 am on Friday, 11 am to 12 am on Saturday, and 11 am to 10 pm on Sunday.
Andy’s Pizza, owned by Bethesda native Andy Brown, already has successful locations in Adams Morgan, NoMa, Navy Yard, and Shaw in DC, as well as a Northern Virginia location in Tysons. Another upcoming branch is in the works for Old Town Alexandria. Brown, expressing his connection to the area, mentioned that he had been eyeing Bethesda since the inception of his restaurant’s expansion. According to the Business Journal, the Bethesda location boasts more space than the average, around 1,800 square feet, to accommodate larger parties.
Known for their meticulously crafted pizza dough, which undergoes a 72-hour cold ferment and is cooked in a New York deck oven, Andy’s Pizza delivers a crispy crust with a chewy interior and a subtle sour flavor. In addition to their award-winning pizza, the menu includes salads, wings, fries, and more. Andy’s Pizza clinched 1st place in the International Pizza Challenge™ last year, solidifying its reputation as one of the most esteemed pizza-making competitions in North America.
