MoCo’s First Z Burger and Maman Joon Are Now Open

In recent developments, the joint venture of Z-Burger and Maman Joon has successfully opened its doors at 18100 Georgia Avenue in Olney, occupying the former space of Taco Bar and Jerry’s Subs & Pizza. This marks a significant milestone for both restaurants, with Z-Burger securing its first location in Montgomery County ahead of its Bethesda counterpart.

Z-Burger, a local DMV-based chain, is celebrated for its handcrafted burgers adorned with a myriad of toppings, fresh-cut fries, and an extensive selection of hand-spun milkshakes and concretes made with premium Wisconsin custard. With multiple locations in DC, Northern Virginia, and three in Maryland, Z-Burger has become a regional favorite since its inception in Tenleytown in 2008. Notably, founder Peter Tabibian brings valuable experience from his previous role as the general manager at a Jerry’s Subs & Pizza in Maryland.

Complementing Z-Burger, Maman Joon offers a diverse menu featuring kabobs, sandwiches, soups, salads, platters, desserts, and other Persian specialties. Maman Joon has existing locations in Tenleytown, McLean, and Tyson’s Corner, with the Tyson’s location specifically targeting the vibrant Persian and Middle Eastern community in the area.

This collaboration between Z-Burger and Maman Joon brings a unique fusion of American and Persian flavors to Olney, catering to a diverse range of preferences and tastes. As per Mama Joon:

We take pride in creating authentic Persian food that reflects our heritage. Our ingredients are always fresh, most of our spices come from Iran, and our menu is lovingly prepared using our treasured family recipes. As for the restaurant’s name, the word Maman means “mom” and the word Joon means “soul, spirit of life.” Used in a modern day to mean “dear”, as a gesture of close kinship and hospitality. So all together Maman Joon, means DEAR MOM! Food is the language through which mom best knows.
