Commas, a new 13,000 square foot food hall set to open on the third level of Ellsworth Place (8661 Colesville Rd) in Downtown Silver Spring, is expected to open in late March, as reported by Source of the Spring.
Confirmed vendors at Commas include:
- DMV Empanadas: Founded by Bolivian brothers Marco and Nacho Almaraz, DMV Empanadas has been a popular hand-held bite at DC/Baltimore-area farmers’ markets for nearly 10 years. With a storefront in Gaithersburg, MD, DMV Empanadas serves authentic empanadas using local ingredients and family recipes, offering a variety of creative fillings such as Arroz and Spicy Pork, Shrimp Old Bay, and Cheeseburger.
- Trini Vybez: Launched by Natalia Kalloo as a food truck in 2020, Trini Vybez quickly gained a fan base at farmers’ markets, festivals, and private events. The menu features traditional Trinidadian street food, including cookups, curries, and roti, with options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free preferences.
- Tokoa: Described as a “family-owned spot serving authentic Philly-style cheesesteaks,” Tokoa Cheesesteaks aims to create delicious experiences with a menu featuring signature cheesesteaks, flavorful wings, crispy Mac & Cheese Bites, and sweet Specialty Waffles.
- J&J Mex-Taqueria: A family-owned and operated business serving the DC community since 2015. The father-son duo, José and José Tovar, are dedicated to sharing authentic Mexican recipes, flavors, and sauces passed down through generations.
Commas is expected to feature a total of 12 food and beverage merchants, offering a diverse range of global flavors. Further updates, including an official opening date, will be provided in the future.
