Olney Winery, located at 52 Olney Sandy Spring Rd. in Ashton, has announced that it will be closing permanently. After initially announcing in November that it would be “closed until further notice,” the winery confirmed the closure in an email to customers last Friday.
Operating since 2012 under the name The Winery at Olney, the business began at 18127 Town Center Drive in the Fair Hill shopping center in Olney before moving to a tasting room at 12810 Shank Farm Way in Hagerstown in 2016. In the summer of 2023, Olney Winery relocated to its current location at 52 Olney Sandy Spring Road in Ashton Market.
In its farewell letter to customers, which can be seen in full below, the winery expressed gratitude for the support it received over the years. The letter also announced that discounted wine would be available for purchase on Saturday, December 14th, and Sunday, December 15th.
“Dear Customers, It is with a heavy heart that Olney Winery is closing its doors permanently. We truly appreciate all our customers and all your support through the years.
Did you want to purchase wine while it’s still available? If so, you can… We will be at the tasting room this Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th from Noon until 4pm. Transactions are cashonly and wine is discounted at 50% off 12 or more bottles, 25% off 6 to 11 bottles, and 20% off 5 bottles or less.
We want to personally thank everyone for their loyalty to us over the years. It’s truly been a pleasure getting to know each and every one of you.
