Raising Cane’s began its expansion into the D.C. metropolitan area with the opening of its first regional restaurant in Sterling, VA (45545 Dulles Eastern Plaza) in December 2022. According to a report from The Diamondback, Raising Cane’s will be moving into the space previously occupied by Nando’s Peri-Peri in College Park. A representative from Raising Cane’s stated that the new restaurant is scheduled to open in August or September of 2025.
Earlier, we reported that Raising Cane’s has plans for over 15 locations in Maryland alone. While many of these sites have yet to be disclosed, it remains uncertain whether Montgomery County will be included in the upcoming openings. For now, the College Park location will be one of the closest options for residents in that area.
Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Raising Cane’s has grown to more than 460 restaurants across 27 states and several countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, with multiple new locations under construction. The chain, which began its international expansion in 2015, is known for its straightforward menu focused on chicken finger combos, chicken finger sandwiches, crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, sweet/iced tea, and Cane’s sauce.
