Khana: A Claypot Grille permanently closed at the end of September after operating for approximately ten years at 15616 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville. Its departure paved the way for a new tenant at the fully leased Burtonsville Town Square shopping center: Quickway Japanese Hibachi, which has signed a lease to open a new restaurant in the space.
Quickway’s new location will be its eighth in Montgomery County and will be situated next to Jersey Mike’s. The lease was finalized shortly after Khana’s closure two months ago. While an exact opening date has not been announced, a mid-year launch seems plausible. Quickway’s menu includes their signature hibachi chicken dish priced at $9.25, with other meal options ranging from $9.25 to $13.85. Offerings also include bento boxes, beef, shrimp, tofu, salmon, sushi, poke bowls, and more.
The regional chain has been steadily expanding, with its seventh Montgomery County location opening in Travilah Square last year, its sixth in Olney in 2022, and its fifth in Stone Mill Square (Korean Korner shopping center) prior to that. Quickway now operates in 10 counties across the DMV area, following its inaugural opening in 2012.
According to the Quickway website, the restaurant’s concept centers on bringing the teppanyaki cooking technique—grilling fresh proteins on an open griddle—to a quick-service setting. Guests can enjoy dishes prepared to order, with a variety of sides, salads, and sushi made from fresh ingredients and homemade sauces. The company emphasizes a clean, modern dining environment and offers healthy options with reduced salt, no trans fats, and no MSG.
