Maryland-based Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro and Café has 4 other locations operating across Baltimore and Howard counties, but is preparing to cross state lines by expanding into NoVA. The new location is supposed to arrive sometime this winter in Ballston at 4401 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, adding to the already expanding cafe scene in Ballston.
Roggenart’s menu offers everything one would expect to see from a European Cafe, with a focus on coffee, breakfast sandwiches, omelets, oven-baked melts, and cast-iron sandwiches. They also offer various deserts such as gruyere croissants infused with bacon and Danishes filled with sweet cheese, both of which are made fresh every day, according to the Roggenart website. Established by Serbian-born owner Nemanja Popov seven years ago, the bakery reflects a European influence in its selection and quality of baked goods. The name “Roggenart” itself translates from German to “the art of rye,” emphasizing the bakery’s dedication to crafting artisanal products.
The upcoming location is currently in the hiring process.
