Han Spot is set to join the lineup at Gaithersburg’s Rio, as indicated by the “Coming soon” signage adorning the space formerly occupied by Union Jack’s until June 2020.
The brainchild of Chris Zhu, the mastermind behind esteemed dim sum eateries like China Garden in Rockville and Han Palace in Tysons, Woodley Park, and Barracks Row, Han Spot promises to bring a fresh culinary experience to the area. Construction commenced a few months back, with the previous interior stripped away to make room for the new establishment.
Zhu took to social media in May to share the exciting news, stating, “Another milestone. New baby from Han Palace coming to Rio Gaithersburg. Next to AMC theater & Guapo’s.” With Han Palace renowned for its all-day dim sum menu featuring an array of delights such as scallops, shrimp, pork/crab dumplings, rice rolls, barbecue pork buns, lobster sticky rice, Han-style filet mignon, and Peking duck, patrons can anticipate an equally enticing menu at Han Spot.
While an exact opening timeframe remains uncertain, a mid to late 2024 debut seems plausible. Stay tuned for further updates as Han Spot prepares to tantalize taste buds at Rio Gaithersburg.
