Kanpai Southeast Asian BBQ and Shabu Shabu Buffet has officially opened at 1701 Rockville Pike, Suite A10, in Rockville, and the founder of The MoCoShow, Mr. MoCo, paid a visit to show support and offer a “first look” (see video here).

The restaurant features at-the-table Southeast Asian BBQ and a Shabu Shabu buffet, where you’re served plates of meat, vegetables, and other items like dumplings and udon to cook yourself in a broth, rather than being provided with a pre-prepared broth. Additionally, the buffet includes a variety of dishes representing flavors from across Southeast Asia.

“I stopped by for lunch today and got the option for all three ($35 per person), but you can choose the options individually for a lower price. The buffet was amazing. If you would’ve put the food in front of me without knowing it came from the buffet, I wouldn’t have been able to tell. The mango sticky rice and cheesecake desserts were some of the tastiest I’ve had at a buffet. Really enjoyed the bbq as well,” he shared.

Per the Kanpai website: “Our menu is a tribute to the aromatic and flavorful dishes that Southeast Asia is renowned for. From the bustling streets of Bangkok to the serene beaches of Bali, our chefs have meticulously curated recipes that capture the essence of the region. Enjoy a variety of marinades, spices, and ingredients that create an unforgettable dining journey.

Indulge in a variety of marinated meats, seafood, and vegetables, all prepared with authentic Southeast Asian spices and sauces. Grill them to perfection right at your table for a smoky, flavorful feast.

Enjoy the comforting and interactive experience of Shabu Shabu. Select from a range of broths, including traditional miso, spicy tom yum, and creamy coconut. Dip fresh ingredients into the boiling broth and savor the rich, layered flavors.

Our buffet offers a wide array of dishes, from classic Southeast Asian street food to fresh salads and desserts. Explore different flavors and textures, ensuring there’s something for everyone.”
