Management from TGI Fridays in Frederick has confirmed that the Rockville location at 12147 Rockville Pike, in the Pike Center, has closed permanently. The only remaining Montgomery County location at 12281 Tech Rd. in White Oak is still open, along with the Frederick location.
TGI Fridays rose to peak popularity in the 1990s, becoming known for its vibrant atmosphere, American cuisine, lively bar scene, and signature “flair.” During that era, the Rockville location competed with nearby Ruby Tuesday’s and Bennigan’s as one of the busiest restaurants on the Pike.
In January 2024, TGI Fridays announced the closure of 36 underperforming locations across the U.S., including six in the DMV area. At that time, both Montgomery County locations—Rockville and White Oak—remained open. In November 2024, the company filed for bankruptcy while stating that all 39 locations would continue operating. Other locations, including more than 150 in the U.S. and additional international sites owned by TGI Fridays Franchisor LLC, also remained open at the time.
Reports of the temporary closure, along with speculation that it would be permanent, were shared by @pike.and.rozay via @moconights on Instagram. The permanent closure was later confirmed by our team Monday evening after speaking with employees and management at both the White Oak and Frederick locations. Management at Frederick confirmed the closure.
The Rockville location is still listed as “temporarily closed” on Google and remains on the company website, though all days are marked as “closed.”
