TGI Fridays has announced the closure of 36 underperforming locations in select markets across the U.S., including six stores in the DMV area. Additionally, the chain has sold eight corporate-owned restaurants in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to former CEO Ray Blanchette.
The TGI Fridays restaurants closing in/around the DMV area are as follows:
Maryland:
- Columbia, MD: 8330 Benson Dr, Columbia, MD 21045
- Bowie, MD: 15207 Major Lansdale Blvd, Bowie, MD 20716
Virginia:
- Springfield, VA: 6751-B Frontier Dr, Springfield, VA 22150
- Manassas, VA: 7401 Sudley Rd, Manassas, VA 20109
- Fredericksburg, VA: 1160 Carl D Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
- Woodbridge/Potomac Mills, VA: 13237 Worth Ave, Woodbridge, VA 22192
It’s important to note that the two Montgomery County locations in Rockville and White Oak/Fairland will remain open, as they were not mentioned in the press release and continue to operate normally. In response to the store closures, TGI Fridays is providing over 1,000 transfer opportunities, representing over 80% of the total impacted employees.
