Transition in Pike & Rose: Mui, a Modern Japanese-Inspired Restaurant, Steps into Former “The Block” Space

Federal Realty has unveiled plans for Mui, a modern Japanese-inspired restaurant, to join the vibrant dining scene at North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. Set to open its doors in Winter 2024, Mui will occupy an impressive 8,506 square feet at 967 Rose Avenue, adjacent to West Elm. The restaurant will take over the space formerly occupied by The Block food hall, which operated from 2019 until recently.

According to Federal Realty, Mui’s expansive menu will feature a blend of non-traditional Japanese fare alongside traditional kaiseki, sushi, and omakase offerings sourced directly from Japan. A carefully curated selection of agave, scotch, and sake, as well as an impressive array of champagne, wine, and cocktails, will complement the dining experience. The highlight of Mui will undoubtedly be its omakase service, where guests will engage directly with the chef for a personalized culinary journey, showcasing innovative sushi creations.

Additional menu items include seafood and meat cooked on a Robata grill. “We warmly welcome Mui to Pike & Rose,” said Stuart Biel, Senior Vice President, Federal. “Our highly amenitized neighborhood is a popular destination for foodies and shoppers from North Bethesda and the greater community, and we are thrilled to share this new dining experience.”

“With its lively environment, Pike & Rose is the perfect setting for Mui’s first restaurant location,” said Edward Wong, Mui. Mui joins a curated mix of retailers and dining destinations in the Pike & Rose neighborhood including Julii, Melina, Call Your Mother, Sports & Social, Privai spa + salon, Summer House Santa Monica, Roaming Rooster and more.”
