“The MICHELIN Guide inspection team is delighted add the international flavors of Causa and Rania to the Washington selection of Starred establishments,” Poullennec said. “These world-class restaurants blend tradition with innovation to deliver a delicious meal and memorable experience.” Here are Washington’s new MICHELIN-Starred restaurants, with inspector notes from each:
One MICHELIN Star
Causa (Blagden Alley; Peruvian cuisine): Discover the essence of Peru at Causa, an exquisite dual-concept dining space curated by Chef Carlos Delgado in the heart of Blagden Alley. With an intimate setting accommodating around 20 guests, Causa offers a thoughtfully crafted tasting menu that embarks on a culinary journey through the diverse landscapes of Peru. Commencing in Lima, the experience unfolds with coastal seafood delicacies, meandering through the Andes and the Amazon, bringing the vibrant flavors of the region to life.
Rania (Penn Quarter; Indian cuisine): Fit for royalty, Rania, meaning “queen” in Hindi and Sanskrit, graces Penn Quarter with an opulent fine dining experience. Chef Chetan Shetty weaves a captivating narrative through his inventive menu, featuring contemporary elements and delightful surprises. Among the culinary gems is the braised pork belly vindaloo, exemplifying the fusion of traditional and modern flavors that defines Rania’s approach to Indian cuisine.
