In a compilation of his top ten favorite casual restaurants in the DC area, The Washington Post’s Tim Carman has highlighted two Montgomery County eateries.
Securing the #7 spot is Rockville’s Bao Bei, situated at 11910 Parklawn Dr. #O. Specializing in authentic Taiwanese cuisine, Bao Bei operates through a ghost kitchen owned and run by Gaithersburg native Kevin Hsieh. The restaurant offers pick-up and delivery services through platforms like UberEats, DoorDash, and Grubhub. Hsieh expressed excitement about sharing his culinary creations with the local community, emphasizing the handmade nature of their menu items, with the Pork Belly Bao being a signature dish.
Ranking at #5 on the list is Steeze Burger, which Carman recently named the “Best Burger in the DMV.” This traveling burger stand is owned and operated by Laytonsville resident Hunter Karametos. Starting as a pop-up burger business in 2022, Steeze Burger emerged after Karametos dedicated a considerable amount of time to researching and sampling over 150 different burgers. The burger stand releases its schedule via social media, providing burger enthusiasts the opportunity to indulge in their offerings.
