According to a report from Source of the Spring, Willie T’s Seafood Shack, located at 9326 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, has permanently closed its doors. The restaurant will be succeeded by Milk & Honey, a southern-inspired brunch and soul food establishment with existing locations across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Both concepts are under the ownership of Thompson Hospitality, the group responsible for Matchbox (Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring locations in Montgomery County), Austin Grill, American Tap Room (previously in Montgomery County), and Wiseguy Pizza (opening this month at Wheaton Mall).
Willie T’s Seafood Shack originated as a pop-up restaurant inside Austin Grill in Springfield, VA, and it opened its Silver Spring location in March 2022. Initially planned as a “joint restaurant,” sharing space with BRB (be right burger), another Thompson Hospitality concept with a current location at Dulles Airport, Willie T’s closed permanently. The menu at Milk & Honey features items such as “Chef Sammy’s Award-Winning” Shrimp & Grits, Deep Fried Salmon Hash, Chicken & Waffles, and Crab Benedict.
