Wiseguy Pizza Shuts Down Its Only Maryland Location

Wiseguy Pizza has officially closed its Wheaton Mall food court location. Opened in September 2023, this was the chain’s only Maryland outpost.

Known for its stone-deck oven-baked pizzas, Wiseguy Pizza gained a following for its high-quality ingredients imported from Italy, homemade sauces, and dough made using a specialized water filtration system. The menu featured traditional options like Cheese and Pepperoni alongside creative selections, including Paneer Tikki (House Masala, Paneer, Mozzarella, Onions, Tomato, Green & Chili Peppers, Cilantro, Jalapeño Sauce), Nashville Hot Chicken, Chicken Parmesan, and Whitestone (Garlic, Ricotta, Mozzarella, Parmigiano, Oregano, and Tuscan olive oil).

With the closure of the Wheaton location, Wiseguy Pizza continues to operate its remaining locations in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. The brand was acquired in 2022 by Thompson Hospitality Group, which also manages several other popular restaurant chains, including Matchbox (Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring) and Willie T’s Seafood Shack (Silver Spring). Previously, the group operated Austin Grill and American Tap Room in Montgomery County.
