Torchy’s Tacos has obtained a $500k permit to initiate construction on its inaugural DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) restaurant, situated at 12266 Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza.
Last September, it was announced that the Texas-based Torchy’s Tacos would be establishing its presence at 12266 Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza, taking over a portion of the space formerly occupied by Chuy’s and Ruby Tuesday. Following the successful hearing for its alcohol license on Thursday, February 1st, and the completion of the removal of the previous Chuy’s interior, the focus shifted to commencing construction for the restaurant. Recent updates include the installation of Torchy’s signage on the windows.
Torchy’s Tacos is renowned for offering a distinctive array of tacos, sought-after queso, and refreshing margaritas, along with a rotating Taco of the Month. With over 115 locations spanning across 14 states, Torchy’s Tacos prides itself on serving made-to-order tacos, sides, and beverages from scratch. Based on the current progress of interior renovations, it is estimated that the opening is still several months away.
Ralph Ours, Director of Leasing for the Mid-Atlantic Region at Federal, expressed a warm welcome to Torchy’s Tacos and Kura Revolving Sushi Bar as they expand into Maryland, further solidifying Federal Plaza as a prominent shopping and dining destination for the Rockville and greater Montgomery County community.
While an exact opening timeframe has not yet been determined, the goal has been set for 2024 since the initial announcement last year. The news regarding the issuance of the permit was initially reported by Maryland Newsletters.
