Mon Ami Gabi Receives Permit for $1.2 Million Renovation Project

In February, we announced that Mon Ami Gabi Bethesda is slated for an extensive remodel this spring, necessitating the temporary closure of the restaurant, a cherished part of the community since 2002. Earlier this month, a permit totaling $1.2 million was issued for the renovation project.

Streetsense Architecture, based in DC, will spearhead the renovations for the restaurant situated at 7239 Woodmont Ave, nestled in the heart of Bethesda Row. Mon Ami Gabi, under the leadership of Executive Chef Andrew Fleischauer, is renowned for its French bistro classics and innovative twists on traditional favorites.

The remodeling process is set to commence this spring, although a specific start date is yet to be determined. While the reopening date remains undisclosed, it is anticipated to take place before the year’s end.

In compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, the company has filed a notice of layoffs, obliging certain employers to provide advance notice of business closures and large-scale layoffs. All employees have been offered the option to temporarily transfer to other Lettuce Entertain You restaurants and will have the opportunity to return to Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda upon its reopening.

The full statement issued by the restaurant is as follows:

“Thank you for reaching out regarding Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda. As part of our continuous efforts to enhance the dining experiences for our guests, Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda is set to undergo a remodel that will begin this spring. The French bistro will reopen before the end of the year, however the exact date is not yet confirmed.

We look forward to introducing the newly remodeled space to our guests and the community. We are excited to enhance our service offerings and provide an even more exceptional dining experience upon the reopening of Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda later this year.

During this transitional period, our employees remain our top priority. All Mon Ami Gabi – Bethesda employees have been given the option to temporarily relocate to other Lettuce Entertain You restaurants and will be offered the chance to return to Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda upon its reopening.

Thank you for your support and understanding. We can’t wait to invite our guests back to experience the refreshed Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda.”
