Extended Construction at Wawa Gaithersburg Delays Opening, According to Google Update

Construction is progressing at Wawa’s inaugural Montgomery County location situated at 405 S Frederick Ave (355) in Gaithersburg. The convenience store and gas station, set to occupy the former site of Becraft Antiques, have faced a slight delay in their anticipated opening date. Initially, representatives from the store had communicated an early January opening date to Gaithersburg High School, but as of January 31st, additional construction is still underway.

According to recent information, Google now indicates a revised opening timeframe in March. Typically, Wawa holds grand opening events to celebrate the launch of new locations, with details shared on the official Wawa website. However, as of now, no such announcement has been made, aligning with the expected March (or later) opening.

The journey to bring Wawa to Montgomery County began in May 2019, with initial plans aiming for a launch by the end of 2020. Despite the extended timeline, Wawa remains committed to establishing a presence in the county and has even submitted an application for a second Montgomery County location, demonstrating their continued interest in the region.
